Also known as the Chinatown Gate, this Orientally-stylized gateway elegantly stands over the intersection between Grant Avenue and Bush Street. One of San Francisco's most captured monuments, it was designed by renowned American-Chinese architect Clayton Lee who structured it to resemble Chinese ceremonial gates called Paifangs. Sheltered by lustrous green-tiled roofs and flanked by mythological lion sculptures, this gate is believed to ward away evil spirits.
