The McLaren Lodge is the headquarters of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. Its unique structure illustrates the Moorish-Gothic school of architecture and is a registered landmark of San Francisco. The lodge was built in 1896 and overlooks a verdant landscape. Punctuating the green lawns is a Monterey cypress, commonly called Uncle John’s Tree, after the first superintendent John McLaren. Being San Francisco’s official Christmas tree, there is an annual tree lighting ceremony as well as several community activities and a carnival.
V. C. Morris Gift Shop was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, who used this design primarily as a concept to create the circular grade at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. The design of the store is unique in that all its structures have a circular or semi-circular design. The interior consists of a circular mezzanine which can be accessed through the grade, and the furnishings are all made of glass or wood. The beautiful arch entry of the store built on a brick wall is absolutely stunning to look at, and is a sure shot way to lure you into the V. C. Morris Gift Shop.
This small park near the Embarcadero Center is popular with office-goers who stop by to hang out during breaks and catch some fresh air. The central attraction is the rather curious-looking Vaillancourt Fountain created by noted sculptor Armand Vaillancourt. This behemoth structure looks like an art-installation comprising entangled piles of concrete blocks in varying shapes. The Justin Herman Plaza always seems to be bustling with the frenetic activity of pigeons flying around and kids playing with employees on their lunch break. A nice place to go to if you're bored and want to indulge in a bout of people-watching.
A Masterpiece of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, Salesforce Transit Center is an excellent facility in the South of Market of San Francisco. An established network of light rail and buses converge at the Salesforce Transit Center and it has become a lot easier to navigate through the city ever since this transit center has come into existence. Apart from that, it has become somewhat of a landmark amongst locals as well as tourists due to its outstanding features such as a rooftop park, restaurants, cafes, shopping establishments, an amphitheater and more. It is a place to experience convenience, comfort, culture, and luxury all under one roof.
