Located near the historic home of the illustrious Lafayette Funk is the Funk Gem and Mineral Museum. It was built between 1973 and 1974 and showcases one of the largest collections of rare gems, minerals, fossils and Indian artifacts by one person. Many of these unique items are not even with the Smithsonian’s and are mostly in their natural state, though there are a few scattered polished ones. Get enthralled by these precious jewels and minerals in the huge hall. Next to the hall are exhibits of the fossils, arts, seashells, corals and saddles. Don't miss out on fluorescent mineral rooms which glows eerily under UV light. Appointments are required to visit the museum.
