This tiny fountain was built after the demise of the critically acclaimed author Nelson Algren, who was known for his love-hate relationship with the city. The fountain has been a source of much debate since its installation in 1981 owing to Algren's infamous status amongst the Polish community of the city. Now, a spot for the recreation of homeless folk, the fountain lies largely forgotten.
