This 350-acre (141 hectare) cemetery is a true monument to the past. Originally constructed in 1864 by William W. Boyington, the ornate and Gothic entrance is classified as its own historic landmark. Inside, many grand crypts pay homage to 14 Chicago mayors, Nobel Prize winner and Vice President Charles Gates Dawes and businessmen Richard Sears, Montgomery Ward, Oscar Mayer and Milton Florsheim. Rosehill is also a natural sanctuary. Every fall, Canadian geese flock in by the hundreds and several raccoons, rabbits and squirrels can be spotted here.

Nuclear Energy is a sculpture, in bronze. This marvelous creation by Henry Moore is located in the campus of the University of Chicago. It was erected on the 25th anniversary of the splitting of the atom. Standing 14 feet (4.26 meters) tall and 8 feet (2.4 meters) in diameter, this sculpture symbolizes the human skull for some spectators. While others feel it resembles an atomic mushroom cloud. But whatever the perception, this piece of art lures every eye.
