Mount Hope was the private home of Fielder Magruder, a descendant of the influential Magruder family who were the earliest settlers in Cheverly. Built in 1839, the 12-room house is easily one of the oldest structures in the area. It also features in the town seal of Cheverly and is the official town symbol. Needless to say, this building is hard to miss when you're in town!
