Millennium Building

Millennium Building is located in the heart of Missoula and, at nine storeys, is one of the tallest buildings in the city. This imposing structure dominates the city's skyline and also offers spectacular panoramic views of the city and the Missoula mountains in the distance.

Perfectly capturing the contented look of a lazy, sprawled out street cat, the Cattin' Around statue evokes more than a couple of laughs and smiles from cat lovers everywhere. One of several pieces making up the fascinating downtown public art project, the piece is full of character and humor. If you look carefully, you can spot a water bath for birds on the cats back. Artist, Mike Hollern was especially fond of working with welded steel as a base for his sculptures, one that is said to have originated with this particular piece. A well known local sculptor and landscape artist, his work is featured in several public spaces.

Florence Hotel

Fire destroyed the Florence Hotel twice, but it was painstakingly rebuilt to its current grandeur in 1941. An accommodation option that was quite contemporary for the time it was established in, the hotel's facade was a brainchild of architect G.A. Pehrson. Modernity oozed from every corner of its interior as well; the place was centrally air conditioned and had bold characteristics like glass doors in the bathrooms. The hotel was a living personification of aristocracy that entertained patrons to the likes of legend John Wayne. However, in 1970 the hotel closed its doors to guests and was later utilized as a commercial building that boasts of a distinguished legacy.
