It wouldn’t be a drag to say that police work is one of the toughest jobs in the world. The law enforcement agents deal with the worst aspects of human nature. The Montana Law Enforcement Museum preserves the history of law enforcement in Montana by displaying various items used by the department. The intricate details behind the items are provided by volunteers who have a keen interest in law enforcement and history. From the oldest badges, guns and handcuffs used by the sheriffs, to the collection of items used by the prisoners for potential escapes, the museum is filled with surprises with equally interesting history. A couple of items in the museum stand out to the visitors. This includes the uniform of Officer Joseph Freshman. Officer Joseph Freshman was shot and killed by a robber in 1906. The bullet holes in the uniform are visible. In the back room of the museum is an old patrol car which is occasionally used for parades. The Montana Law Enforcement is a must-visit for law enforcement and history enthusiasts.
