Sometimes known simply as "The News Building," this 37-story brick skyscraper was once the headquarters of the New York Daily News. Built in 1929, the 476-foot (145-meter) building remained home to the Daily News until 1994, and is now a city and national landmark. The building's most notable feature is the giant rotating globe that sits in the lobby. Superman fans will recognize the Daily News Building as the model for Clark Kent's workplace, the Daily Planet.
The Admiral's House, located on Governors Island, is of great historical significance. It was built in 1843 and is an example of late Federal architecture. This manor home punctuates beautiful verdant gardens and was the abode of several army generals and officers over the years. It features on the National Register of Historic Places.
