The Cleveland Museum of Art is famed for its collection of Egyptian and Asian art, and with good reason. However, there is also an architectural marvel to be found on the premises, in the form of the Ames Family Atrium. Occupying 39,000 square feet (3623.219 square meters) of space spread over five floors, this glass and steel building has become one of the highlights of a visit to the museum. This massive space forms a link between the original museum building (opened in 1916) and the 1971 additions made by Marcel Breuer, and is the site for events of many kinds.
Cleveland Public Square is a central attraction of this large metropolis. Located in the heart of downtown, this 10-acre (four-hectare) plaza features iconic skyscrapers and buildings showcasing splendid architecture. It also features a Civil War memorial monument and statue of the city's founder. This square hosts several political and social events.
