This park encompasses 880 acres (356 hectares), including a section of the South Platte River. Ecosystems along the flood plain include riparian woodlands, grasslands and wetlands. As a result of this diversity, the area is teeming with an assortment of wildlife. The Theo L. Carson Nature Center, located in the park, offers interactive displays, which detail the history of the South Platte River and its plants and animals.
Clement Park is the perfect stop for active, outdoorsy families, featuring an impressive array of sports facilities, including six baseball fields, eight tennis courts, a skate park, volleyball courts, batting cages, Johnson Lake, and much more. Whether you want to have a picnic, let the kids loose on the playgrounds, or even attend an event at the Grant Amphitheater, Clement Park's the place.
Chatfield Reservoir is a popular recreational destination located in Chatfield State Park. The reservoir offers a wide range of activities for visitors to enjoy. Boating is a popular pastime, with opportunities for motorized boating, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding. The expansive waters of Chatfield Reservoir provide ample space for water enthusiasts to explore and have fun. The reservoir also has several sandy beaches where visitors can relax, swim, and soak up the sun during the warm summer months. Picnic areas and shelters are scattered throughout the park, providing a great opportunity for families and groups to gather and enjoy outdoor meals.
Set in the Colorado foothills, this park boasts a world of outdoor recreation. Swim on the seasonal open beach, try your luck with fishing at the reservoir, or take advantage of the scenic marina and go boating. Hike and bike the easy paved and unpaved trails or visit the B&B livery and take to the park on horseback. Additionally, land has been set aside for camping and picnicking. The setting is conducive for wildlife viewing and during their season, you are certain to see great blue herons on the south side of the park.
