Officially known as the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway, Cross Florida Barge Canal was originally built to connect the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean through Florida. This was one of the most ambitious projects of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Cross Florida Barge Canal includes the Santos Trail System and is a protected green belt that features lush greenery.
