A unique natural phenomenon located in the Shale Creek Preserve, the Eternal Flame Falls is a popular tourist attraction. A quaint grotto at the base of the waterfall known to emit natural gas, is lit to produce a small flame which can burn throughout the year. Easily extinguished, the flame is re-ignited by park authorities for a continuous display of the spectacle. This extraordinary attraction has featured in many books and travel series on television.
