There are 22 parks located throughout Spartanburg. The main one is Barnet Park, which sits on seven acres (three hectares) of green land and has a lovely walking path that extends for a full two miles (three kilometers). In the park is the Zimmerli Amphitheatre, which plays hosts to various concerts and shows throughout the year. The park is also dressed with an interactive water fountain, pavilion and art sculptures.

The City of Spartanburg Parks & Recreation Department maintains more than 350 acres of parkland, nearly 20 basketball courts, over 10 playgrounds and approximately 10 baseball fields. The department also maintains more than 10 tennis courts, over five picnic shelters and several walking trails, gymnasiums, swimming pools and amphitheaters. In addition, it operates a football field and baseball stadium. The city department coordinates a variety of festivals, concerts, activities and special events.
