Quick overview of Orlando movers

The best moving company in Orlando for YOU

Spending hours reaching out to Orlando moving companies to obtain quotes and compare their reputations only adds to the overall stress of moving. We've aimed to decrease your frustration by providing strategic recommendations, but no single company is right for everyone.

One important factor to consider is availability. Moving companies are busiest in the summer months, at the beginning and end of each month and on the weekends. If you can be flexible with your moving date, you stand the best chance of getting the company you want, but we included six companies to give you plenty of alternatives. If you have a last-minute move, Sebastian Moving and More is your best bet due to its availability.

Sebastian Moving and More is also our pick for the best overall Orlando mover. The company has thousands of reviews with near-perfect scores. Its rates are on the high side, at $575 for the first two hours and $210 per hour after for a team of three movers. However, you get the friendly service of a local company from a team of professionals, and there's no deposit required. Plus, you get what you pay for in this case.

I decided to contact Sebastian Moving because of all the excellent reviews. Kristen was very helpful and booked me for the time & date I needed over the phone. On the day of, the movers arrived 20 minutes early and immediately got to work. They transported my belongings safely and also shrink wrapped my furniture. The 3 men worked fast and were professional & respectful. The price was fair and I paid the exact amount I was quoted. I’d definitely recommend this company. I was stressing a lot, but they did the hardest part and thankfully everything went smoothly.

Anthony, Antonio, and Brian all did an impeccable job with our move. They were careful and helpful through the entire move. We have used this company many times and it is the only moving company we will ever use.

Headway Moving is another great local Orlando mover, particularly for those with specialty items like gun safes or who need furniture and appliances delivered and installed. Headway's rates are in the middle of the price range for the area at $195 per hour for three movers. Watch out for the $195 travel fee and lack of interstate moving services.

Pros

  • Locally owned and operated
  • Labor-only services

  • Piano and safe moving

Cons

  • No interstate moves
  • $195 travel fee

BLVD is the best national moving company

A BLVD Moving truck parked on the street in front of a house

A BLVD Moving truck parked on the street in front of a house

At Yahoo Local, we're here to help people make solid, informed choices. We love featuring local businesses, but depending on your moving needs, a national company may be the better route, especially for long-distance moves. If you're trying to compare your options, our guide on local vs. national movers breaks down the pros and cons. If you go with a national company, BLVD Moving is our top recommendation .

BLVD Moving operates from four California locations and handles both local and long-distance relocations across the U.S. It's an independent, family-run business that uses its own trucks and crews. That said, its terms mention that it may work with subcontractors or agents for certain moves, which is a standard industry practice, particularly when demand is high.

We contacted BLVD Moving for a quote on a 500-mile move with about 1,340 cubic feet of belongings, or roughly the amount you'd expect for a three-bedroom house without oversized appliances. The quote came in at around $6,700, which is on par with other national moving companies. To lock in the booking, it requires a 33% deposit, with half of the remaining balance due at pickup. The rest is paid when your items are delivered.

Services offered

  • Local and interstate moves

  • Residential, office and commercial relocations

  • Packing services

  • Storage options

  • Financing available

If you cancel at least two full business days before your scheduled pickup, BLVD Moving will refund your deposit. It offers a delivery window of two to 21 business days, depending on distance. That window begins on your chosen delivery date, so if you're ready to receive your shipment, it may take just over a month to arrive.

BLVD suggests scheduling your move about a month in advance, or earlier if you're planning to move during busy times like summer or the beginning or end of the month. (Check out our full guide to the best and worst times to move for more insights.) The estimate process is straightforward: you can schedule a virtual walkthrough or submit an inventory form online. BLVD also provides financing to qualified customers, with interest rates starting at 0%.

BLVD Moving is accredited by the BBB and currently has a B rating , with 96 complaints on file. While that number might seem high, it's not unusual for national moving companies. It also has a 4.5-star rating on Google (1,607 reviews) and a 2.4-star rating on Yelp (393 reviews). All of its movers are employees who have passed background checks. It's open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

Kevin and his team were absolutely amazing! From start to finish, they were professional, efficient, and a pleasure to work with. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was handled smoothly and exceeded my expectations in every way. I couldn’t be happier with the results and would highly recommend their services to anyone looking for quality and reliability.

Why they stand out

BLVD Moving is our top pick for a national mover due to its combination of experience, flexibility and relatively strong Google reviews. It has background-checked crews, but it also reserves the right in its terms and conditions to subcontract your move or assign it to agents. The quote process is smooth, in our experience, requiring a simple online inventory, and BLVD's cancellation policy is relatively good.

Pros

  • Has its own movers and fleet
  • Background-checked crews
  • Local and long-distance moves
  • Offers virtual estimates

Cons

  • Can subcontract jobs to other movers
  • Relatively high deposit
  • No GPS tracking
  • Mixed Yelp ratings

Huge thank you to Chris, Jamal, and Maksym! They made what started out to be a difficult moving process end SO smoothly and easily. They arrived very promptly and immediately got to work wrapping everything with care so there were no concerns of things being damaged or broken during transit. They were super polite, friendly, asked for my input where needed, and were finished ahead of schedule. They offered to move things to the proper placement in my new house and reassemble furniture and they just generally went above and beyond my expectations. I'm so happy with my service. Thank you so much!

Orlando moving FAQs

What info should you have when requesting an estimate?

Moving companies often ask for the same information when you call for a phone quote , so it helps to have some standard details ready. First, note the specific details of your home size, including the number of bedrooms and square footage. Also, have the addresses and zip codes for each side of your move available.

Additionally, it helps to note any large furniture items you need to move because companies use this information to determine how many trucks your move needs and how long it may take. Some companies will require a full inventory of furniture to provide an estimate. Also note any specialty items, like pianos and pool tables, because these often require a special charge .

What should you know about packing and storage in Orlando?

Orlando is hot and humid, so you'll want to pack with that in mind. Before you move, keep your boxes in a cool, dry place. If you need storage, go with a climate-controlled unit if possible. Also, consider whether you want to pack yourself or have movers do it . While hiring movers to do the packing can get expensive, it's a great option if you don't have extra help or the ability to do it yourself.

What's different about condo and apartment moving in Orlando?

When you're moving into or out of an apartment or condo , you may need to reserve an elevator for your move. You can speak with your building manager to ask about reservations or whether there's a freight elevator you can use. Coordinate these times with your moving company.

Do you need moving permits or licenses to move to or from Orlando?

You don't need a special license or permit to move in Orlando, but your moving company does. Orlando moving companies are required to be licensed through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS). Read our complete guide to moving company licensing and regulations in Florida for more details.

How much should you tip movers in Orlando?

Moving companies don't require tips, but they're a great way to show your appreciation if your moving team goes the extra mile. Typical tips for moving jobs fall between 10% and 20% of the total moving cost. You can give tips to individual movers on your team or give a lump sum to the supervisor to be split among them.
