Yet, it still has some of the highest ratings on Google, Yelp and Angi. The company provides various services, such as plumbing, water installations and slab leaks. Based on the conversation we had, Liberty Plumbing is the best plumber for price.
The customer service representative we spoke to answered the phone promptly and quoted us a flat rate of $150 to unclog a drain. There is also no service or travel fees since the flat rate for services covers everything. If further work is required, the technician will clearly communicate next steps and obtain customer approval before any additional charges are applied.
We called around 2 p.m., and the plumber said that, despite having only three hours left in the workday, they could still come out the same day. Typically, there is a three-hour arrival window, and customers receive a notification before the technician arrives.
Warranties depend on the situation. For example, if the hair clogs the drain, customers receive a warranty for the work. If the drain is made of old cast iron, has grease or is broken, then they may not. For most drain-clog jobs that only require a snake, customers can expect a warranty.

Texas plumbing FAQs
How do I know if my water heater needs repairs or a full replacement?
If your water heater is under 10 years old, it's often possible to repair individual components such as valves, thermostats, igniters, motors, heating elements or thermocouples, according to The Home Depot . However, if the unit hasn't been well maintained or is showing multiple signs of wear, such as inconsistent hot water, unusual noises, rust-colored water or rising energy bills, a full replacement is usually the better option. In Texas, hard water and mineral buildup can speed up internal damage, making older systems more prone to failure. Our guide walks you through the clearest signs that replacing your water heater may be the right choice .
How long does a water heater typically last in Texas?
In Texas, a traditional tank-style water heater typically lasts eight to 12 years, according to the Texas-based Santhoff Plumbing Company , though factors like hard water, mineral buildup and heat-related wear can shorten its lifespan if the unit isn't regularly maintained. Homes with high sediment levels may see heaters fail closer to the lower end of that range, while systems that are flushed annually and properly serviced often last longer. Tankless water heaters generally have a longer lifespan, often 15 to 20 years, but still require routine maintenance to perform efficiently in Texas water conditions.
For more details on extending your water heater's lifespan, read our guide on how often maintenance should be performed by you or a plumber .
What are the most common issues people call plumbers to fix?
The most common plumbing issues homeowners call plumbers for include leaky faucets and pipes, which waste water and can lead to damage over time; clogged drains or toilets, often caused by grease, hair, wipes or mineral buildup; and running or constantly refilling toilets, a frequent source of high water bills. Many calls also involve water heater problems, such as no hot water, strange noises or leaks. Other frequent issues include low water pressure, burst or frozen pipes, especially after weather extremes and garbage disposal jams or failures. While some problems start small, calling a plumber early can help prevent costly repairs and water damage later on.
How can I tell if I can fix a plumbing issue myself or if I should call a pro?
You can usually handle a plumbing issue yourself if it's minor, visible and low-risk, such as a dripping faucet, a slow drain, a running toilet or a loose fixture, especially if the fix doesn't require shutting off the main water line or specialized tools. However, you should call a professional if the problem involves active leaks, water damage, sewage backups, no hot water, low pressure throughout the home, burst pipes or anything inside walls or underground. A good rule of thumb: if the repair could cause flooding, violate local code or cost more to fix if done wrong, it's safer and often cheaper to bring in a pro early.
Is it better to go with a smaller plumbing company or a larger one?
Choosing between a smaller or larger plumbing company depends on your needs. Smaller local companies often offer more personalized service, better communication and strong accountability through their community reputation. Larger companies typically provide wider coverage, more technicians and 24/7 availability, which can be helpful for emergencies or complex jobs. In most cases, service quality, licensing, insurance and warranties matter more than company size alone.
Do plumbing companies in Texas need to be licensed?
Yes. In Texas, all plumbing companies must be properly licensed through the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE). Homeowners can easily verify a plumber's credentials by searching the TSBPE's publicly available license database before scheduling service. Our guide to Texas plumbing licensing and regulations for plumbers and homeowners explains more.
Do all reputable plumbers do background checks?
All of the plumbers we spoke with conduct background checks. Most reputable plumbing companies do, especially for technicians who enter customers' homes, but it isn't legally required in all states. Established companies often include background screening as part of their hiring process to build trust, protect customers and reduce liability. That said, practices can vary by company, so if this is important to you, it's reasonable to ask directly whether technicians are background-checked, drug-tested, insured and properly trained before scheduling service.
Do plumbers usually charge by the hour or flat rate?
Plumbers may charge either by the hour or with a flat-rate price, depending on the company and the type of job. Many reputable plumbing companies now prefer flat-rate pricing, which means you're quoted a set price upfront for a specific repair or service, regardless of how long it takes. This helps avoid surprise costs. Hourly pricing is still common for diagnostic work, small repairs or complex jobs where the scope isn't clear at the start. Before work begins, it's always a good idea to ask how pricing is structured and what the estimate includes.
Should plumbers provide written estimates before beginning a job?
Yes, reputable plumbers should provide a written estimate before starting a job. A written estimate helps you understand the scope of work, expected costs and whether pricing is flat-rate or hourly, reducing the risk of surprise charges. It also gives you a point of reference if questions come up later. While emergency repairs may sometimes begin before paperwork is finalized, a professional plumber will still explain costs clearly and document them as soon as possible.
Do plumbers usually offer warranties? And if so, what kind?
Yes, most reputable plumbers offer warranties, though the terms can vary by company. Typically, warranties fall into two categories: labor warranties, which cover the workmanship for a set period (often 30 days to one year), and manufacturer warranties, which apply to parts or fixtures installed, such as water heaters, faucets or valves, and can last several years depending on the product. Some companies offer extended or satisfaction guarantees as well. It's always a good idea to ask what's covered, how long the warranty lasts and whether it applies to both parts and labor before work begins.
