Drain Genie Plumbing Services is the best overall Orlando plumbing company

A Drain Genie work van is seen in Orlando

A Drain Genie work van is seen in Orlando

Drain Genie is our No. 1 pick for the best plumber in Orlando, offering 24-hour service for both residential and commercial customers. It also has same-day availability for emergency and scheduled repairs. It serves Orlando and nearby communities such as Winter Park, Lake Mary and Apopka. It also operates locations across South Florida and the Treasure Coast. When you call Drain Genie, a representative from Jackrabbit, a company that handles scheduling and dispatch, answers the call. The business itself operates under the Drain Genie Brand and is run by Air Pros LLC, the licensed parent company listed on the BBB page. This structure is fairly common for large home service companies with multiple locations.

Drain Genie has been providing plumbing services in Florida since 2008 and lists its licensing number on its website. When we reached out with a bathroom drain clog, the company had same-day appointments available, with the next appointment two days later (morning or afternoon). The company's arrival windows span from two to three hours, and it gives you a 30-minute heads-up when the technician is on the way. Its plumbers are employees of the company and must pass background checks and drug screenings.

There is a $119 service and dispatch fee for a visit. If repairs or parts are needed, and you decide to have Drain Genie handle it for you, the fee is deducted from the total cost of service. The technician consults with a manager and then goes over the cost with you in person before any work begins. A representative told us that written estimates are not provided in situations like this.

For some basic services like water heaters, garbage disposals and toilet repairs, the company may provide an estimate over the phone. More complex issues, like a slab leak or remodeling project, require an on-site inspection. A representative told us it handles drain clogs regularly but does not offer a warranty on stoppages, noting that it cannot control what goes down your pipes. For larger repairs, like pipe replacements, the warranty terms depend on the scope of work and are reviewed with you before the project starts

Services offered

  • Emergency plumbing service

  • Water heater repair and replacement

  • Drain cleaning and clog removal

  • RepipingToilet repair

  • Bathroom and kitchen plumbing

Drain Genie offers rotating specials and discounts on its website , like $35 off plumbing repairs and discounts of up to $500 off new water heater installations. Online booking is also available.

It has a 4.8-star rating on Google from 1,726 reviews and a 4.4-star rating on Yelp from 125 reviews. The company is not BBB-accredited but holds an A rating. It has 74 complaints on file over the past three years, which is fairly typical for a state-wide company with multiple locations. The company confirmed that all of its plumbers are employees of the company and undergo background checks.

Drain Genie is available around the clock for emergency plumbing needs.

A work van for Modern Plumbing Industries

Modern Plumbing Industries is our top alternative pick for the best Orlando plumbers, especially if you want a long-established company that offers same-day availability, flat-rate pricing and around-the-clock emergency plumbing services. Founded in 1975, Modern Plumbing Industries is a family-owned Central Florida company that has grown from a one-truck operation into a full-service plumbing company. It serves residential and commercial customers in the greater Orlando metro area and operates 24 hours a day.

When we contacted Modern Plumbing Industries about a clogged tub and shower drain, the representative offered to "work us in" with no extra charge for same-day service. For non-emergency appointments, the company also offered us next-day scheduling with two to three-hour arrival windows, like 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The first appointment of the day starts at 8 a.m.

You'll get a call from dispatch when the technician is en route. The dispatcher provides the technician's full name and the estimated arrival time.

There is no charge for Modern Plumbing Industries to come out and inspect your plumbing problem, which is rare among plumbers, as most charge a fee to come to your home. The technician will evaluate the issue and provide a flat-rate quote. The pricing is presented on a tablet and also emailed for your records. If you decline the work, the technician will be on their way at no charge to you. Pricing is based on the scope of work rather than an hourly rate, and estimates are reviewed before any work begins.

Financing is available. Modern Plumbing Industries also offers a Modern Value Plan membership that includes a 15% savings, priority scheduling and other benefits. It also offers various savings on its website .

Services offered

  • Residential and commercial plumbing

  • Emergency plumbing

  • Water heaters

  • Drain and sewer

  • Gas piping and gas appliance installation

  • Slab leak detection and repair

  • Backflow prevention

  • Water treatment systems

  • Pipe replacement and repiping

The company told us it regularly handles clogged tub and shower drains and offers multiple drain-cleaning methods, including machines, camera inspections and high-pressure jetting. Drain stoppages are typically not guaranteed since clogs can come back due to household use. Jetting and sewer line services may come with warranties, depending on the job and are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Modern Plumbing Industries employs its own team of plumbing technicians, who undergo background investigations and drug screenings. It is accredited by the BBB with an A+ rating and has one resolved complaint on file in the last three years. On Google, it has a 4.9-star rating from 1,623 reviews. On Yelp, it has a 4.6-star rating from 110 reviews.

R.J. Kielty Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Electric is our best Orlando plumbing company for full-service home repairs

Two R.J. Kielty Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Electric technicians visit a home for a plumbing repair

Two R.J. Kielty Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Electric technicians visit a home for a plumbing repair

If you're looking for a great plumbing company that also offers other home services, R.J. Kielty Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Electric is a top choice. It handles plumbing, air conditioning and electrical work, with three offices in the state, including New Port Richey, Valrico and Orlando. The Orlando office serves a wide swath of Central Florida, including Orange, Seminole, Lake, Osceola, Polk and Sumter counties. This family-owned plumbing company has been operating in the Sunshine State since 1973, starting as a small operation in Hudson and growing into a large, multi-trade service company.

R.J. Kielty is certified in Florida as a plumbing, electrical and air-conditioning contractor, and lists its license numbers for each trade directly on its website. The company is also a member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Orlando.

We called this plumber about a clogged shower and tub drain, but it did not have any same-day appointments available. (Note: Your call is routed to the New Port Richey office, where a representative takes your ZIP code and helps schedule an appointment.) Instead, it offered us next-day service with four-hour arrival windows between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. or 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. You'll receive a text message with the technician's name, phone number and qualifications, along with an estimated time of arrival before the technician is on the way.

There is an $89 service fee for a technician to come out and evaluate the issue. If you approve the estimate and move forward with the repair, that service fee is applied to the cost of the job. If you don't proceed with the work, you only pay the $89 fee. Pricing is flat rate by the job instead of by the hour. After the plumber diagnoses the issue, the estimate is sent to your email for review before any work starts.

A representative with the company said that despite offering other services, like electrical and HVAC, it does deal with a fair number of clogs. If a drain is cleared and later clogs again, an R.J. Kielty technician will return to take another look and determine whether there is a deeper issue in the line at no cost to you. The company typically guarantees parts for at least 30 days. If additional problems are discovered during a return visit, you will get a new estimate before more work is done.

Services offered

  • Sewer and drain

  • Waterline repair and installation

  • Bathroom and kitchen remodeling

  • Gas piping and gas appliance installation

  • Water heater repair and installation

  • Electrical (generator installation, home rewiring, surge protection)

  • HVAC repair, installation and maintenance

The technicians are company employees, not subcontractors. All technicians undergo background checks, drug screenings and driving record verifications. The company also operates an internal appreciation program and requires ongoing training for current employees. While the company focuses heavily on residential service, it also has a large commercial plumbing division where it works on office buildings, medical facilities, retail centers and new construction throughout Central Florida.

It is also active in the community and supports organizations like Habitat for Humanity, YMCA and Children's Miracle Network. The company is  accredited by the BBB  with an A+ rating and has answered two complaints in the last three years. It has a 4.8-star Google rating from 116 reviews, and a 4.6-star rating on Yelp from 20 reviews.

It offers emergency plumbing services and can be reached daily, 24 hours a day, but its normal business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It provides plumbing services to Orlando and the surrounding areas like Winter Park, Winter Garden, Clermont, Davenport and Lake Mary.

Brodway Plumbing is our best plumbing company for stoppage warranties

A Brodway Plumbing technician holds his toolkit next to a company truck

A Brodway Plumbing technician holds his toolkit next to a company truck

For a plumbing company that focuses only on plumbing and stands behind its work, Brodway Plumbing earns the title of the best Orlando plumber for warranties on stoppages. Brodway Plumbing is not a franchise or a multi-service operation. It is a fully licensed and insured Central Florida plumbing company that was founded in 2016. The office staff is courteous and friendly and lives up to its approach as a "better, reliable, on-demand way of plumbing."

We reached out to Brodway Plumbing with a clogged shower and tub drain. The representative said they handle each clog differently. For a tub or shower clog that is isolated to a simple fixture, we were quoted $175 for the first hour of labor, with additional costs only if parts or more extensive equipment are needed. The representative told us that most isolated tub clogs are caused by hair buildup and are typically resolved in one hour. (Third-party financing is available.)

The representative explained that the technician usually starts with a standard auger that reaches about six feet into the drain. If the clog is deeper or tied into a larger pipe, then Brodway Plumbing may need to bring in heavier equipment to fix the issue, which can increase the costs. If multiple fixtures are backing up or the issue seems to be related to your main sewer line, pricing starts close to $300 depending on the scope of work. In rare cases, Brodway may use professional-grade chemical treatments as a last resort, noting that these are corrosive products handled only by licensed plumbers.

The company offers same-day service, but at the time of our call, the first appointment was not available until the following afternoon (two-hour arrival window). You can be placed on a cancellation list if earlier spots open up. About 30 minutes before a technician arrives, they call from a company-issued phone to confirm the address, name, and estimated time of arrival.

Services offered

  • Plumbing fixtures

  • Water filtration systems

  • Water softeners

  • Whole home repipe and remodel

  • Water heaters

  • Leak detection

  • Shower and tub installation

All work is done by its team of licensed plumbers. A representative said it does not use subcontractors or handymen and that all technicians are background-checked.

At the time of publication, the company recently updated its warranty policy, which includes a 30-day warranty on drain clogs. In our experience, this is a generous policy that many plumbers do not offer for stoppages. If a clog returns within that window, the company will call back out and take a look. The representative we spoke with noted that while no plumber can control what goes down a drain after service, a short-term warranty helps protect customers from immediate repeat issues.

Beyond drain work, the company partners with Orlando Water Heaters and is a Rheem Pro Plumber and Authorized Service Provider, with factory training across many different water heater types (tank, tankless, gas, electric and hybrid).

Brodway Plumbing is accredited by the BBB and maintains an A+ rating with zero complaints. It has a 4.9-star rating on Google from 418 reviews. It also has good Yelp ratings, with a 4.5-star average from 23 customers. This Orlando plumber is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but it is closed on weekends. It offers 24-hour plumbing emergency services.

Nothing is fun about starting your day with water all over the floor in your kitchen. But when everything is done professionally and in such a friendly manner less than two hours after making a phone call, this place has earned the 5 star review. Highly recommend!

Why they stand out

Brodway Plumbing is a locally owned Orlando-area company that sticks to plumbing and nothing else. Founded in 2016, it uses licensed, background-checked plumbers and avoids subcontractors. The company stands out for its 30-day drain clog warranty and round-the-clock emergency service. Routine appointments are scheduled on weekdays, and pricing can increase for deeper or sewer-related issues.

Pros

  • Warranty on drain stoppages
  • In-house licensed and background-checked technicians
  • Clear service explanations
  • Emergency plumbing services

Cons

  • Weekday scheduling only

Florida plumbing FAQs

How do I know if my water heater needs repairs or a full replacement?

If your water heater is relatively new and the problem is limited to one part or area, like the thermostat, heating element, valve or pilot issue, it can usually be repaired, according to The Home Depot . But, if you're dealing with several issues at once, like rusty water, leaks around the tank, loud noises or so-so hot water, these can be signs your unit needs to be replaced. Most water heaters start to decline between eight to 12 years of age. If your water heater is in that age range, replacing it is often the better move long-term. Check out our guide to the signs you need to replace your water heater for more information.

How long does a water heater typically last in Florida?

Florida homes with traditional water heaters last about eight to 12 years. Tankless systems have a longer lifespan, at 10 to 20 years, with regular maintenance, according to Turner Plumbing in Jacksonville. Florida's mineral-heavy water can shorten a heater's lifespan if it's not flushed regularly. Additionally, performing annual maintenance helps prevent sediment buildup and keeps the water heater running smoothly and efficiently.

What are the most common issues people call plumbers to fix?

Some of the most common reasons people in Florida call a plumber are for corroded pipes from hard water, clogged drains from sand and leaky pipes due to high humidity, according to Sun Plumbing , a company based in Melbourne, Fla.. Additionally, root intrusion and sewer line replacement are also common issues plumbers in Florida face.

How can I tell if I can fix a plumbing issue myself or if I should call a pro?

You can usually handle a plumbing issue yourself if it's minor, easy to access and resolved with basic plumbing tools like a plunger or wrench. These can include slow drains or a toilet that needs a quick, DIY adjustment. If the issue keeps coming back, you think you've got an active leak or water damage, it's best to call in a professional plumber to diagnose and fix the issue.

Is it better to go with a smaller plumbing company or a larger one?

There's no right or wrong answer here because there are pros and cons to both. A smaller, local plumbing company may tend to prioritize customer service and addressing issues quickly to maintain its reputation in the area. It also means you're more likely to reach a real person in the front office when you call instead of being routed to a call center. However, a larger or national plumbing company is still a good option to consider. Because of its size, it often has wider coverage areas and more appointment times. But it can lose its charming customer service approach, as you may speak to someone who does not work in the office of the location in your area.

Do plumbing companies in Florida need to be licensed?

Yes, plumbing companies in Florida must be licensed to legally perform plumbing work. Licenses are issued by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation , which helps make sure plumbers meet safety and professional standards. Hiring a licensed plumber helps protect you and your home.

Do all reputable plumbers do background checks?

In our calling experience, reputable plumbing companies do perform background checks on plumbers. Many also conduct drug screenings and check for clean driving records. Make sure to ask these questions when you call a plumber in Florida. If the answer is unclear or the company doesn't like the question, that is a red flag to move along.

Do plumbers usually charge by the hour or flat rate?

Of the plumbers we called in Florida, most charge a flat rate for common repairs. That means, many times, you'll pay by the job rather than by the hour. It is common for Florida plumbers to charge a service or diagnostic fee to come out and inspect the problem. However, some companies will apply the fee to the overall cost of the repair if you decide to move forward with it the same day. It is rare for companies not to charge a fee to come out, but we have found that they do exist.

Should plumbers provide written estimates before beginning a job?

Yes, most reputable plumbers provide a written estimate, either on paper or a PDF sent via email. On occasion, a plumber may go over the details with you while on-site, but even so, it is best to request written documentation of the cost. That way, there are no discrepancies when the job is done.

Do plumbers usually offer warranties? And if so, what kind?

Plumbing warranties vary by company and the type of work they do. For example, many plumbers do not warranty drain clogs because they can't control what goes down your lines. However, some offer a 30-day guarantee for clogs and will come back to clear them at no cost, while others may offer camera scoping of your pipes to ensure that there isn't a larger issue at play, like roots in your drain lines or collapsed older pipes. Always ask about warranty coverage before any work starts; that way, you know exactly what is covered.
