Ethel's Creole Kitchen

Ethel's Creole Kitchen is a two-storeyed Cajun and Creole restaurant that has seating arrangements outside and also on the rooftop. From the outside, it gives an impression of a European bungalow and yellow and black colored walls and the plants adorning the railings only add credibility to the said impression. Once inside, you will come across a neatly arranged row of tables giving this place a pleasant atmosphere. The yellow walls with paintings and bright lightings give this eatery a welcoming feel, adding to its charm. However, it is not only the overall decor but also the promise of serving authentic Cajun and Creole food that brings people to Ethel's Creole Kitchen. Some of the restaurant's highlights include delicacies such as Nola Chicken, Creole Shrimp Boat, Fried Chesapeake Oysters, Mom's Crabcakes, Slow Roasted Baby Back Ribs and many more. However, the one recipe that shouldn't be missed here is the Jambalaya, a dish which was described by The Baltimore Sun as one of the city's finest single-dish meals.

Papermoon Diner

This small, somewhat eccentric café is a local favorite. The décor is certainly part of the café's charm- bright primary colors abound, the thrift store furniture is mismatched; mannequins, dolls and other toys decorate the window sills, walls and even the ceiling. But it's the food that keeps the locals coming back. It's a terrific blend of traditional home cooking and lighter vegetarian fare. The French toast (served all day) is one of the city's treasures.

Johnny's

If seafood is your deal, then Johnny's is worth a try. Its a great place to be with family and friends to savor their delightful Maryland classics albeit with a twist. Their dynamic menu changes daily as it depends upon the catch of the day, but there is something for almost everyone. They serve good coffee too in the mornings, so if you have any caffeine cravings, head here for your morning dose. From burgers to shared plated, pan roasted dishes and vegetarian plates, you can be sure of delicious goodness. Enjoy happy hours with fine whiskey or wine.
