Once upon a time, there was a restaurant in Denver. Started by an entrepreneur in the 1920s, it was called Coney Island, third in a chain of five, and it served good old comfort food. Over 70 years later, the restaurant reopened a few doors down under the management of the original restaurateur's grandsons. Sam's No. 3 still serves the same comforting food “with an attitude.” Plunge into the Kitchen Sink Skillet for breakfast, while enjoying the simple, nostalgia-inducing interior. Taking a step toward the organic foods revolution is Onefold, a new-age breakfast and coffee joint in Denver. Breezy and quaint, this cozy eatery does away with the usual suspects of eggs and pancakes, and brings in a fresh wave of eclectic eats such as Bacon Rice, Congee and Jasmine Rice, among others. The dishes are prepared with organic ingredients that are locally sourced, and gluten-free and vegan options are available. There is a lunchtime menu as well, where freshly made tortillas and tacos loaded with tomatillo and mojo-marinated pork.
