Masa of Echo Park

The owners have put so much love into this restaurant that the comfort style bistro food is almost too comforting...and just a little fattening. They've combined the flavors of Italy, France, Spain, Cuba and the Midwest to make the menu overwhelmingly satisfying, all at a reasonable price. Some of the local favorites include any of the Chicago-style deep-dish pizzas, which practically burst with tomatoes, and the Manchego salad with granny smith apples, Manchego cheese, and a drizzled-on-top balsamic reduction. The food generally takes a long time to make its way from the kitchen to diners' tables, but the place makes up for it with its overtly attentive and friendly staff. To top it all off, they bake their bread fresh and from scratch...daily!

Eggslut

Eggslut, as its name suggests, uses eggs in every dish, thus transcending the concept of an egg as only a breakfast item. The kitchen serves items like the Gaucho, which is a tri-tip Wagyu steak stuffed in between a warm Brioche bun then topped with egg, Chimichurri, red onions and dressed Arugula. Other options include an Egg Salad sandwich that uses a honey-mustard aioli or the Bailey Biscuit, the delectable home-made biscuit made-from-scratch. It is just one of the many excellent eateries inside Grand Central Market.

Langer's Delicatessen

In this busy downtown neighborhood, people line up daily to enjoy some of the best New York style deli favorites. The decor is pure 60s retro and the eatery attracts many local judges and lawyers. Food here is non-kosher and it sells more pastrami than any other venue in L.A. Tables are scarce, so folks wait patiently for the chance to sit and enjoy the fabulous fare. Curb service is available, and popular as well. Best bets are the egg breakfasts, pastrami or corned beef sandwiches and brisket or lamb shank. A parking lot is available, which is helpful in this busy area. Beer and wine are available.

Home Restaurant - Los Feliz

Living up to a name like Home can be a challenge, and this popular Silver Lake establishment has handled it famously. Morning till night, it welcomes a wide range of customers with tireless hospitality and good cheer. Ample outdoor seating in a charming courtyard is a noteworthy boon in a town where many restaurants carve their meager patios into the sidewalk. Very democratic in its appeal, Home caters to hipsters and families alike. An extensive eclectic menu, with a particularly impressive line-up of specialty salads, has something for most tastes. No need to plan ahead. Home is an ever dependable spur-of-the-moment venue, whether you are doing some window-shopping on Hillhurst or stopping over for some happy hour specials.

Musso & Frank Grill

Open since 1919, this classic restaurant has long been the bastion of Hollywood power dining. With the look and feel of a private Men's club, Musso & Frank Grill rose to fame in the Golden Years of Hollywood, when Irving Thalberg, Clark Gable, and the Marx Brothers were among its most celebrated clients. Nowadays, it is still considered the home of the finest dry martini in town. The Filet Mignon is hard to beat, and the service is perfect, with just a touch of attitude. If you are not in the mood for beef, try the succulent lobster and the rich, heavy desserts. The restaurant's interior exudes a classic old-world charm, with dark wood paneling, red leather booths, and vintage black-and-white photos adorning the walls. Stepping inside Musso & Frank Grill feels like stepping back in time, as it has retained much of its original decor and ambiance, allowing patrons to experience a sense of nostalgia and a glimpse into Hollywood's golden era.
