Parkhouse Eatery

Parkhouse Eatery is so familiar to many local diners that they use a nickname for one of the dining rooms—it is known as 'The Hearth Room'. The building that houses this restaurant was formerly a thrift shop, but has been renovated into a lively local cafe. Available seating areas include an outdoor garden patio (with a large clock, green umbrellas and tall trees), the front dining room, as well as the Hearth Room, hosting a wood-burning fireplace. The menu is vast and rather unusual. Try the Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings or Pan-Roasted Mussels.

Hodad's

This addition to the San Diego downtown dining scene has its roots in the surfer culture of Ocean Beach, where the permissive parent restaurant has gathered legions of fans. Now, near Padre Park, Hodad's hopes to grow up a little without growing old. Burgers of the biggest, greasiest, most utterly satisfying kind are still the rule here, with a choice of fries or onion rings to accompany them. The atmosphere is nearly as frenetic as the beach town location, which has been featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives show, but will the juice-down-the-shirt succulence survive complaints by the suit and tie set? Better eat there now. Open till 10 pm every night in summer.

Richard Walker's Pancake House

This upscale venue serves a combination of traditional and gourmet breakfast foods. The menu at Richard Walker's Pancake House includes griddlecakes, crepes, omelets, and many other options. Their decor is inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and features hand-blown glass installations. The ambiance is completed with classical music.

Corvette Diner

This bright, noisy, cheerful restaurant is not the place for a relaxing meal, but it is great fun. A popular venue for birthday parties, graduation celebrations and other family nights out, the restaurant also offers a full bar for the adults. You can get even enjoy chewable alcohol in the form of Jello shooters. The menu consists of hamburgers and retro home-style cooking, with a few contemporary choices. If Mom's meatloaf makes your mouth water, you can find a re-creation of it at Corvette Diner.

Born & Raised

Born and Raised in San Deigo is in the top of the list of every steak lover as this restaurant serves some of the city's finest steaks. Upon entering the eatery, the first thing to notice here is the wooden decor which is illuminated by light, giving it a very retro feel. The curved booth with table lamps gives this place a cozy vibe. Topped by all that is the rooftop which provides stunning views of the city. Apart from the overall feel, the major draw of this place lies in its menu that includes Filet, Bone-in NY, Rib of Beef, Porterhouse, Flat Iron and Tomahawk. Sit in the rooftop patio to enjoy spectacular views of the city.
