Al & Bea's Mexican Food has a cult following and it deserves the same. Their zesty Mexican food has been savored time and again by Boyle Heights residents. The restaurant is no-frills. No lavish decor, no ornate furnishings, just a few tables and delicious food. The menu offering is high on traditional and classic Mexican fare. Flavorsome burritos, loaded tacos, quesadillas, salads, and chips and salsa are on offer. There are a couple of hamburgers on offer too. Everything here is priced in a way that you won't dent your wallet after finishing off a hearty meal.
Gloria's Cafe is a charming and affordable eatery serving a mix of Mexican and Salvadorian fare. It welcomes one with a pleasantly lit, colorful interior, warm and welcoming ambiance, exceptionally friendly service, and – according to many – some of the best pupusas in town. Other "must try" dishes are the Carne Asada, Carne Adobada, Plantanos Fritos, Enchiladas, and Burritos. The menu features several seafood options, including the impressive and delicious Seven Seas Soup with fish, crab, shrimp, calamari, octopus, and scallops.
