La Val's Subterranean Theater has a seating capacity of 60 and is located in the cellar of La Val's Restaurant. The theater boasts an eclectic, multi-faceted back story. From the 60s through to the 80s, the auditorium played host to concerts by solo performers, bands and groups of every ilk. Then, book readings came of age, into their own later and to be all the rage at the venue. The place has served as home venue of myriad, disparate theater groups throughout its history. A theater group currently operates it, bringing to the fore its own productions as well as providing theater enthusiasts with a space in which to thrive.
Sconehenge was founded in 1998 by Andy and June Lee. Long time friends with the Yasuda family, June and Andy took over the cafe at Berkeley Bowl’s location. They spent two long decades perfecting their delicious and well-beloved recipes to what they are today. Along the way they have supported numerous families and become a staple within the Berkeley community. In 2023, June and Andy decided to retire and transition the business to employee owned. We still use the same great recipes to make our delicious products!
The Crepevine was built and created by our family to be a gathering place for families, friends, professionals and students. In our menu, you will always find something exciting to eat; and certainly, our youngest guests will never be disappointed. At the Crepevine we take great pride in providing the freshest, healthiest, ingredients we can buy, such as organic, fair-trade coffee, ocean raised Canadian salmon, and 100% natural beef that has never been given any antibiotics or hormones. Most of our fruits and vegetables are purchased from local farmers and growers. We use 100% Grade A pure maple syrup. All of our dressings and sauces are made from scratch in our own kitchen, including our pancake mix.
