Heading into Week 2's matchup versus the Seattle Seahawks , the Pittsburgh Steelers have the opportunity to grab an early lead in the AFC — but they'll need to follow these three defensive keys to make a 2-0 start a reality.
Attack Seahawks RT Abraham Lucas
Whether the Steelers manage to get T.J. Watt one-on-one with Lucas or simply send all-out blitzes at the right side of the Seahawks' o-line, Pittsburgh needs to take advantage of arguably the weakest link in Seattle's pass protection.
Stop the run early
After struggling to stop the Jets ' rushing attack mixed with play-action sprinkled throughout, a two-headed Seahawks RB monster in Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet could present Pittsburgh with a similar challenge in Week 2. Preventing Seattle from establishing their will on the ground and creating a one-dimensional offense will be huge here.
Keep Jalen Ramsey on Jaxon Smith-Njigba
Darius Slay struggled to prevent the Justin Fields-to-Garrett Wilson connection in Week 1 — and facing a more accomplished passer in Seahawks QB Sam Darnold , along with two stud WRs in JSN and Cooper Kupp , doesn't do Pittsburgh's defense any favors. Slay should be able to handle Kupp better than he did Wilson last week, but Ramsey should mirror Smith-Njigba throughout the contest to help the Steelers advance to 2-0.
