CLEMSON — Clemson football starting wide receiver Antonio Williams is not expected to play against Troy , according to the Tigers' personnel update report on Sept. 6.
Williams came out in his own jersey during warmups and did not stretch and run routes with the other receivers.
Clemson hosts Troy on Sept. 6 (3:30 p.m. ET, ACC Network) at Memorial Stadium.
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Williams, who suffered a hamstring injury in the first quarter in the team's Week 1 loss to LSU on Aug. 30, was "day-to-day." Swinney added on Sept. 3 that Williams practiced "just a little" leading up to the Troy game.
Tyler Brown , who attended Greenville High School, will replace Williams. Brown had four receptions for 43 yards against LSU in place of Williams, who led Clemson in receiving yards, receptions and receiving touchdowns in 2024. Williams did not miss a game last season after playing in only five games in 2023 because of lower-body injuries.
Safety Khalil Barnes , starting left tackle Tristan Leigh and freshman offensive lineman Easton Ware are also out vs. Troy. Barnes retweaked his hamstring against LSU, Ware is out for the season with a shoulder injury and Leigh had a boot on his right foot.
Swinney said Barnes was "day-to-day" entering the Troy game. With him out, Ronan Hanafin 's playing time will likely increase. Starting right guard Walker Parks is back, but Elyjah Thurmon was announced the starter. With Leigh out, Collin Sadler moved from left guard to start at left tackle, and Harris Sewell earned the nod at left guard.
