- Dallas Cowboys pick Alabama OL Tyler Booker in NFL draft first round: Highlights, stats
A former Alabama football All-American is officially off to the NFL.
Tyler Booker , the former Crimson Tide team captain and starting left guard, was selected with the No. 12 overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft Thursday by the Dallas Cowboys .
Booker is the first guard to be selected as an NFL draft first-round pick since Texas A&M 's Kenyon Green , Boston College 's Zion Johnson and Chattanooga's Cole Strange were each selected in 2022.
With Booker's selection, Alabama now has 17 straight drafts with at least one first-round pick, starting with offensive tackle Andre Smith 's selection by the Cleveland Browns at No. 6 overall in 2009.
Here's what Booker brings to the Cowboys based on his career with Alabama .
A former four-star recruit out of IMG Academy in the 2022 recruiting class, Booker found Alabama's offensive line rotation quickly.
The New Haven, Connecticut, native rotated at both guard spots as a true freshman and received freshman All-SEC and freshman All-America honors.
Booker then started two seasons at left guard, where he allowed two sacks, 18 hurries and 25 pressures across 1,580 snaps, per Pro Football Focus.
As a junior, Booker was a first-team All-American by CBS Sports and USA Today and named second-team All-America by multiple publications.
Booker, a former captain and two-year starter, is described by NFL.com as "tough, smart and a tough leader." He's projected as a "good starter for a downhill, power-based attack."
Per Pro Football Focus, Booker allowed two sacks in the 2,007 snaps of his Alabama football career along with 7 hits, 21 hurries and 30 pressures.
Booker was the most penalized Alabama offensive lineman in 2024, recording seven penalties in 13 games.
