The Atlanta Falcons are banged up at the wide receiver position with both Drake London and Darnell Mooney dealing with shoulder injuries. London exited Sunday's game in the fourth quarter and did not return.
It was initially reported that London has a sprained shoulder . Head coach Raheem Morris addressed his No. 1 receiver's injury ahead of Wednesday's practice.
"Drake is Drake. He's ultimately tough," Morris told reporters before updating London's status for Week 2. "I do expect him to play."
Morris said that both London and Mooney will practice on Wednesday. As for safety DeMarcco Hellams , who missed Week 1 with a hamstring injury, Morris said the former seventh-round pick would return to practice as well.
The Falcons will take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2. It will be the team's first national television game of the 2025 season, playing on NBC's "Sunday Night Football" this weekend. The Vikings blew Atlanta out last season, but both teams have new starting quarterbacks.
Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will square off against Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy for the first time since the two faced off in the NCAA National Championship game two years ago.
Penix played well in Week 1, racking up for 299 passing yards, two touchdowns (one rushing) and zero interceptions. McCarthy bounced back from a rough first half to lead Minnesota to victory over the Chicago Bears on Monday night.
Check back for the Falcons' full Wednesday injury report this afternoon.
