The Atlanta Falcons placed right tackle Kaleb McGary on the injured reserve list just ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline. The move was expected after McGary suffered a knee injury during a practice last week.
While it's clearly a big loss, the Falcons traded for some reinforcements on Tuesday morning. Atlanta sent a conditional 2027 seventh-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for offensive tackle Michael Jerrell .
McGary will be out for at least four weeks, but there's hope his injury won't be season-ending. Reserve offensive lineman Storm Norton is expected to miss time as well while he recovers from an ankle injury.
The Falcons also released former top-10 pick C.J. Henderson ahead of Tuesday's cut deadline. The veteran cornerback signed with Atlanta late in camp but the team's cornerback depth was better than expected. Undrafted free agent Cobee Bryant was also waived by the Falcons.
We would expect to see both players signed to the practice squad, assuming Bryant clears waivers.
