Former UNC basketball star signs two-way deal
Despite only playing in Chapel Hill for one season, Harrison Ingram delivered the type of impact UNC basketball fans crave from new players.
Ingram played at North Carolina during its highly-successful 2023-2024 campaign, which ended in a Sweet 16 loss to Alabama . During the Tar Heels' run, which included a regular-season ACC championship, Ingram delivered as a stretch four. Ingram averaged 12.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, while shooting nearly 40% from the perimeter.
Now a member of the San Antonio Spurs , Ingram extended his professional basketball career on Wednesday by signing a two-way deal.
Per terms of Ingram's contract, he'll split time between San Antonio and its G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs. Ingram spent most of his 2024-2025 season in Austin , averaging 12.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, while dishing 4.3 assists per game and shooting 42.8% from the field.
Ingram appeared in five NBA contests during his rookie season, making his professional debut on Nov. 6 against the Houston Rockets . Ingram's best NBA game came March 14 against the Charlotte Hornets . He scored two points, grabbed three rebounds, recorded one assist and one steal. During the NBA Spurs' final road game, Ingram played a season-high 13 minutes.
San Antonio is a young team. Its oldest player is another former Tar Heel, Harrison Barnes (33). So Ingram's path to minutes isn't extremely difficult. I'm willing to bet Ingram spends the preseason playing up – and if he impresses – stays with the NBA Spurs.
Regardless of where Ingram plays this coming season , his contract shows San Antonio's belief in him.
