- Jam Miller is back for Alabama football, and he showed it in a big way vs Vanderbilt
Jam Miller returned to his former glory in Alabama football's 30-14 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, Oct. 4.
In his second game back after missing the first three games of the season with a collarbone injury, Miller hauled 22 carries for 136 yards and one touchdown to seal the final score with a 20-yard run with 17 seconds left, leaving just 10 yards unaccounted for in a Crimson Tide rushing attack that amassed 146 total yards on the ground.
Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer said Miller makes his job a little easier, too.
"It takes a lot of pressure off the play-calling, and obviously Ty (Simpson) too, when every play doesn't have to be a pass or protection," DeBoer said. "(It's) good to see Jam (Miller) out there doing his thing, breaking loose."

During the 2024 season, Miller had three games with more than 70 rushing yards. His performance against the Commodores this time around was the first time Miller reached the triple-digit mark since Alabama 's 42-16 win against USF on Sept. 7, 2024, when Miller had 15 carries for 140 yards and a touchdown.
Miller reached the 70-yard mark in Alabama's 42-10 win over Wisconsin on Sept. 14, 2024, with nine carries for 71 yards and a touchdown. He also hit the threshold in a 28-14 Iron Bowl win over Auburn on Nov. 30 with 28 carries for 84 yards.
The senior running back seems to have reached the preseason expectations after returning from injury. In his debut game of the 2025 season, Miller hauled 16 carries for 46 yards, adding three receptions on three targets for 19 yards, in Alabama's 24-21 win over Georgia on Sept. 27.
But for Miller, that debut wasn't good enough.
"I didn't play my best," Miller said. "But now I've got the feeling of the game, I just do what I do best."
DeBoer said there's still room for improvement on the ground, but that can wait.
"We're just in our 24-hour rule right now: Celebrate right now, and then once that time's over with, then we just got to move on to the next game," Miller said.
Alabama will seek to continue that production when the Crimson Tide travels to face Missouri in Week 7 play at 11 a.m. CT on Oct. 11.
