Miami Dolphins' Bradley Chubb revises contract to stay with club
Miami Dolphins edge rusher Bradley Chubb has agreed to a revised contract that will allow him to stay with the team in 2025, a league source confirmed Wednesday.
Chubb was scheduled to have a salary cap hit of $28.7 million , second on the team behind only quarterback Tua Tagovailoa .
Chubb, 28, missed last season following a torn ACL the previous season.
But Chubb has 13.5 sacks in 24 games played over two seasons with Miami.
The ability to rotate Chubb, Jaelan Phillips and Chop Robinson at edge rusher should boost Miami's pass rush in 2025.
If Chubb hadn't agreed to reduce his salary, the Dolphins could have cut him and saved $19.6 million against the cap with a post-June 1 release designation.
A league source said a portion of Chubb's contract has been converted to playing time and sack bonuses.
Chubb can be a key team leader next season. The Dolphins need players with positive energy and demeanors and Chubb fits the bill on both counts.
This will free up some space for the Dolphins as they approach NFL free agency, which opens Monday. Contracts can be announced starting Wednesday.
