Miami Dolphins trade Jaelan Phillips to Philadelphia Eagles for third-round pick
The Miami Dolphins are trading edge rusher Jaelan Phillips to the Philadelphia Eagles for a third-round pick , according to a league source.
Miami interim general manager Champ Kelly has gotten a jump start on the NFL trading deadline, which is Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m .
A third-round pick in 2026 is a solid return for a player whose contract ends in Miami at the end of this season.
The Dolphins will pay a portion of Phillips’ contract to help facilitate a better return, according to NFL Network.
Phillips, 26, reunites with Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who previously coached in Miami.
Before NFL trade deadline, Miami Dolphins move Jaelan Phillips
Phillips was the 18th pick of the 2021 NFL draft, out of the University of Miami.
When healthy; Philips was a force, a combination of size, speed, power and relentless effort.
Phillips’ 2023 and 2024 seasons were ended by Achilles and ACL injuries.
Phillips had three sacks in nine games with Miami this season and 26 sacks in 55 games with Miami.
By trading Phillips, Miami can clear additional snaps for Chop Robinson , a first-round rookie from last season.
After Miami’s last game, Phillips said he would like to stay in Miami but understood it was out of his control.
