Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris has his work cut out for him as the team works through mandatory minicamp. On Wednesday, the Falcons returned to the practice field for Day 2, but not before Morris addressed the media.
Unlike Tuesday's press conference, which focused mostly on Kirk Cousins and Kyle Pitts , this time, Morris talked more about the team's rookie class. Even though minicamp isn't exactly a real NFL practice, there's still plenty that can be learned.
"Right now, we are not into the physical form and fashion of what we do," said Morris. "But you can see the traits of what you want."
Morris has high hopes for 15th overall pick Jalon Walker , praising the rookie's natural leadership ability.
"He has like those captain-like traits," Morris said of Walker. "When you first meet him, you get that feel, you get that vibe from him. He'll be one of those guys that you can tell is gonna lead us in the future."
Morris also complimented first-round pick James Pearce Jr.'s attention to detail and intelligence.
"Being around him, it's been a lot of what I thought and what I've expected," Morris said of Pearce . "Really his buy-in, really smart, sharp, articulate guy, asks a lot of questions. One of those guys that's going to be very intentional about how he speaks to you. So when he's talking to you, he's going to be direct, he's going to look you in the eye."
Morris closed out his press conference praising linebacker Divine Deablo and running back Bijan Robinson . Check back this afternoon for updates from Day 2 of Falcons mandatory minicamp.
