Scott Frost Accuses Bill Belichick Of Disrespecting UCF Before Game

Bill Belichick poked the bear ahead of Saturday's game vs. UCF and it seemed to have fueled "Space U" to the 34-9 beatdown it handed UNC in this weekend's matchup.

Belichick, who's known for saying as little as possible in front of the media, referred to UCF as "Central" ahead of their Week 4 meeting which didn't appear to sit well with the fan base or its coach.

"We'll just go through the preparations for Central. I know that's a good football team. I know Scott [Frost] does a good job down there but we'll have to gear up for what they do. They've got a lot of skilled athletes, they get the ball in space a lot, and defensively they've got some guys that we're gonna have to handle," Belichick said a handful of days ago.

As Scott Frost pointed out after the win, that was the wrong move on Belichick's part.

Scott Frost calls Belichick's comment 'ammo' for UCF

“This is only my third season coaching at UCF,” Frost shared with reporters, "and thatkind of seems like the ammo of UCF. Going a long way back, little disrespected ... we’re not Central Florida, we’re UCF. You know, people picking us last. Not having any confidence in several people on the coaching staff ... we haven’t done anything yet. I think it fits with what UCF has been for a long time if we play with a little chip.”

Frost actually played for Belichick as a member of the New York Jets back in the late '90s and said that he had a lot of respect for the six-time Super Bowl champ's football acumen prior to kickoff.

"Yeah, I was with Bill for two years. You know, I can't say enough about how intelligent he is, and how much football he knows," Frost said before the game. "And that was before he went on a run as a head coach. So a tremendous amount of respect for what he's accomplished in the game."

Belichick congratulates Frost on 'great job'

During his own media availability after suffering the loss, Belichick gave Frost and his team credit for thoroughly outplaying the Heels at home.

"First of all, he did a great job with UCF today," Belichick said. "Their team played well, certainly better than we did. There were too many problems out there to be consistent."

"There are a lot of things that we need to do a better job of and they were just better than us today," the coach admitted.

Bill and the Tar Heels will attempt to go back to the drawing board after suffering a second loss to a Big 12 team on the 2025 campaign.

Meanwhile, don't look now, but Scott Frost and the Knights are 3-0 with some winnable games on the schedule.
