Skylar Thompson is apparently the worst-kept secret on the Pittsburgh Steelers , shocking the NFL world with another electrifying performance in his preseason finale — but HC Mike Tomlin isn't surprised.
Following the Steelers' 19-10 victory, in which Thompson completed 11 of 13 passes for 152 yards and one touchdown, Tomlin addressed the successful outing completely unfazed by the dazzling numbers — because he apparently expected it.
"He's got playing experience," Tomlin told reporters when asked about Thompson's recent success. "This guy started games in Miami . I think that experience shows — and we're talking regular-season games."
Thompson likely not only earned himself a spot on the 53-man roster , but his strong performance — compared to QB Mason Rudolph's struggles over the past two games — jarred the door open for the Pittsburgh Steelers ' top backup QB spot.
