Steelers fans rejoice! Former first-round safety Jabrill Peppers is headed to the Steel City.
On Tuesday morning, Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers were signing Peppers following his surprise release from the Patriots amid final roster cuts.
Selected by the Browns with the 25th overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Peppers was part of the blockbuster 2019 trade that sent him to the New York Giants and brought Odell Beckham Jr. to Cleveland . Peppers spent three years with the Giants before signing with the Patriots, where he spent another three years as New England 's starting strong safety.
Peppers has 99 games of playing experience over his eight-year career, producing seven interceptions, 35 passes defended, 511 tackles, six forced fumbles, and 30 tackles for loss.
His arrival in Pittsburgh is the perfect remedy to the disastrous injury news surrounding DeShon Elliott's MCL sprain — which will reportedly sideline him several weeks.
