One AFC West team has emerged as a potential trade favorite for Steelers preseason hero QB Skylar Thompson — none other than the Las Vegas Raiders .
On Sunday, it was reported that Raiders backup QB Aidan O'Connell would miss significant time with a fractured wrist — leaving HC Pete Carroll to look for another signal-caller behind starter Geno Smith .
"With QB Aidan O'Connell fracturing his wrist and being sidelined 6-8 weeks, Raiders HC Pete Carroll said the team is now in the market for a backup QB and is looking for "an experienced player who can help us," Schefter wrote on X.
Considering Carroll's pursuit of a backup quarterback, Thompson presents himself as one of the best options available — netting the Steelers a Day 3 pick in the process.
Trading away Thompson would also pave the way for rookie Will Howard to retake his QB3 role after missing the preseason with a broken finger.
