Athletes in the United States and worldwide are some of the most recognizable faces on the planet. Whether they're walking through airports, stepping into restaurants, or just enjoying a day out, their presence rarely goes unnoticed.
Whenever they are seen, fans line up for autographs, selfies and anything in between. But sometimes, even the biggest stars get one-upped.

And in the case of the reigning Sixth Man of the Year, Payton Pritchard
, the one who tops him in terms of popularity isn't another NBA player — it's his wife, Emma.
"100%. Especially in the East Coast area. I mean, I can't even say East Coast because I'll anywhere, and like, I'm thinking somebody's coming up for me and they are like, really coming up to tell me that they are fans of Emma. And they don't even really know that I play ball,"
Pritchard admitted in his recent appearance on the "White Noise Podcast." "They are like, 'I know you play basketball, but I love Emma.'"
Who is Emma MacDonald?
2024 was a year to remember for Payton. First, he earned his second NBA championship ring as part of the Boston Celtics
squad that defeated the Dallas Mavericks
in the NBA Finals. Then, in August, he tied the knot with Emma MacDonald in Harwich Port, Massachusetts, surrounded by over 250 of their loved ones.

But while Payton was making a name for himself on the hardwood, Emma was busy building an empire of her own. She's a successful influencer and vlogger who has firmly established herself in the digital space. With 371K subscribers on YouTube, 873.4K followers and over 19 million likes on TikTok, plus another 381K followers on Instagram, Emma's reach stretches far beyond the Celtics' fan base.
So yeah, while Payton draws crowds inside packed arenas, Emma attracts audiences across social platforms worldwide. She grew a massive and loyal community, so it is no surprise that sometimes she's the one fans approach first.

Payton will see an increased role this season
Pritchard is coming off the best season of his young career, one that saw him average 14.3 points per game off the bench while hitting 3.2 threes a night, earning the Sixth Man of the Year award ahead of names like Malik Beasley
and De'Andre Hunter. He became a crucial piece of Joe Mazzulla's rotation and will continue to build on that trust.
In this upcoming campaign, there's no doubt Pritchard will have an even larger role. With Jayson Tatum
sidelined for most — if not all — of the season, and the departures of Jrue Holiday
, Kristaps Porzingis
and Al Horford
, the Celtics will need someone to soak up all the usage and step into the spotlight.

Payton will be that guy. His responsibilities are set to rise, and Boston will count on him to keep them afloat in a competitive Eastern Conference.
And who knows, if he keeps improving the way he did last year, maybe one day he'll catch up to Emma in the recognition department. But for now, it looks like the Pritchards have the spotlight covered both on the court and in the digital world.
