Transfer WR produces the best Texas A&M receiving game in 12 seasons
No. 16 Texas A&M secured one of its biggest wins in program history on Saturday night after defeating No. 8 Notre Dame 41-40 in one of the more epic showdowns of the season thus far.
Led by Texas A&M's elite passing game , starting quarterback Marcel Reed looked the part despite completing just 17/37 passes. Still, he threw for a career high 360 yards, including an incredible and record-setting 207 yards to sophomore wide receiver Mario Craver.
Mario Craver and junior wide receiver KC Concepcion have become the two best offseason additions after just three games, combining for 289 yards against the Fighting Irish . At the same time, Craver has landed among a special group of former Texas A&M greats after his epic performance, reeling in the most receiving yards for an Aggie wide receiver since future Hall of Fame wide receiver Mike Evans .
While Evans has been catching touchdown passes from Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield throughout his incredible NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , his two seasons in College Station included 2,499 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns, including multiple 200-yard games. Craver's 207 yards were the most in a game for the Aggies since Evan's 279 yards against Alabama during the 2013 season.
Craver is one of the fastest wide receivers in the country, showcasing his elite speed during a 72-yard touchdown reception that tied the game at 7-7 early in the first quarter. Paired with his impressive route running that was on full display throughout the night, Craver's future is incredibly bright, and could be one of the primary reasons Texas A&M makes it to the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history.
