- Tyler Booker wanted to be drafted by Dallas Cowboys: Here's why
When Tyler Booker was selected by the Dallas Cowboys as the No. 12 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft, the former Alabama football offensive lineman didn't hide his excitement.
"I'm just glad to be a Cowboy," Booker told ESPN. "This is really a dream come true. It's truly a blessing."
Booker, a former All-American and permanent team captain, started multiple seasons at guard for Alabama . He is the first guard selected in the first round of the NFL draft since 2022.
And Dallas was where Booker wanted to call home.
"I actually trained in Dallas, so I fell (in love) with the area," Booker said. "And the whole process I was like, 'It would be great to be a Cowboy.' The Lord works in mysterious ways."
Booker then started two seasons at left guard, where he allowed two sacks, 18 hurries and 25 pressures across 1,580 snaps, per Pro Football Focus. As a junior, he was a first-team All-American by CBS Sports and USA Today and named second-team All-America by multiple publications.
And as he makes the transition to Dallas and the NFL, Booker called for Cowboys fans to expect the same.
"They're getting the same thing Alabama got," Booker said. " … A leader, somebody who loves to work, somebody who loves to practice, somebody who loves his teammates, somebody who aims to win multiple championships. I can't wait to further the tradition of success in Dallas."
