Though she is only 20, Shaw has already made 29 appearances for the United States. She has scored eight goals for the Americans on international duty.

Shaw spoke of her delight after signing her new deal with Gotham.

“I’m so excited to continue to give my all for this incredible club and our amazing fans,” Shaw said. “I’m grateful to call this place home for the years ahead.”

Gotham fans will be eagerly tracking Shaw’s development. The Frisco, Texas, native has already made plenty of history in her young career.

Shaw became the second-youngest player to debut in NWSL history at 17 years and eight months in 2022 as a member of the San Diego Wave. She became the youngest player in NWSL history to reach 15 career goals, passing USWNT teammate Alyssa Thompson .

Gotham will need Shaw and her teammates to be at their very best in Sunday’s NWSL playoff quarterfinal meeting on the road against top-seeded Kansas City Current .

“Playoffs are like a whole new season, so it doesn’t matter what anyone’s done up to this point – ourselves included,” star midfielder Rose Lavelle recently stated. “You go into the playoffs with a fresh slate. Kansas City is a great team and has had an incredible season, so we have to start strong from the beginning. We know they’re very good in transition, so we’ll have to be switched on.”

After losing to North Carolina 3-2 last Sunday, Gotham slipped to the eighth seed. Gotham enters the match as underdogs, as the Current set all-time NWSL records with 65 points and 21 wins in the 2025 regular season.

If Shaw, Lavelle, Midge Purce , and co. can bring their top game, they’ll have every chance to shock CPKC Stadium and book their place in the semifinals.
