The San Francisco 49ers are adding a big piece to their offense in free agency. They're signing former Tampa Bay Buccaneers superstar Mike Evans to a three-year deal, according to multiple reports.
Evans has spent the last 12 years in Tampa Bay , recording 11 straight 1,000-yard seasons and earning six Pro Bowl selections. He's a likely future Hall of Fame receiver who has scored 108 career touchdowns and has 13,052 yards receiving – the 21st-most in NFL history.
Last season was Evans' first with fewer than 1,000 yards receiving, missing eight games due to injury. In half a season, he had 368 yards and three touchdowns.
Evans joins a receiving corps that also features Ricky Pearsall , but with Jauan Jennings being a pending free agent, San Francisco was getting thin at that position. When healthy, Evans is a big-play receiver who dominates in the red zone, giving Brock Purdy yet another quality target.
And it's not as if Evans picked the 49ers because of money. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports he was looking for a "new challenge" at this stage in his career.
