Major League Baseball is in a much better spot when Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout is playing at the top of his game. Trout is off to a hot start in 2026, and on Wednesday, he hit his 10th home run of the young season. If he continues to smash at this rate, he will hit well over 40 homers this season.
Furthermore, during the day game against the Chicago White Sox , Trout made history when he crossed home plate. According to Matt Birch, Trout joins some elite company with runs scored.
" Mike Trout has now scored 29 runs this season, which matches the American League record for March/April. He joins Mookie Betts (2018) and Aaron Judge (2025) as the only A.L. players to score 29 runs before May 1."
Trout would have one more day to score even more runs, but the Angels have the day off on Thursday. The next time the Angels play will be on Friday against the New York Mets .
On the season, Trout is hitting .248 (.999 OPS) with 10 homers, 21 RBIs, five doubles, and 32 walks on the season. His OPS is 7th in the league, as well as his double-digit home runs. The Angels, however, are not taking advantage of his elite play. The White Sox swept the Angels, which now marks their sixth straight loss. The Halos started the season strong, which they normally do. Eventually, they hit a rough patch and never work their way back from it. Once again in 2026, the Angels are doing just that.
The Angels recently released reliever Jordan Romano .
