The New York Mets are adjusting their rotation plans as they navigate Kodai Senga 's latest injury setback, forcing the club to rely on internal depth ahead of an upcoming road series vs. the Los Angeles Angels starting on Friday. With their pitching staff in flux, the Mets are turning to David Peterson and Christian Scott to help stabilize the situation.

Senga's absence removes a major arm from the rotation, increasing pressure on the rest of the staff to deliver consistent innings. The Mets had already been managing their pitching carefully, but this development has accelerated the need for adjustments.

Peterson will step into a starting role immediately, taking the mound Wednesday against the Washington Nationals at Citi Field. The left-hander has shifted between the bullpen and rotation this season, but this assignment reflects growing trust in his ability to handle a larger workload.

Meanwhile, Scott is lined up to start Friday in Anaheim as the Mets open their series against the Angels. The right-hander continues his return from Tommy John surgery after working back through Triple-A earlier this month, making this particular outing a significant opportunity.

BBWAA member Joe Pantorno shared the updated plan on X, formerly Twitter, outlining how the Mets will structure their rotation in the short term.

"David Peterson will start tomorrow, Christian Scott will start Friday in LA. #Mets"

The update provides clarity as the Mets prepare for a demanding stretch of games. With Senga sidelined, the team must manage innings while remaining competitive in a tightly packed schedule.

Peterson's start offers immediate stability, while Scott's outing could help set the tone for the Angels series. Both pitchers now carry added importance as the Mets look to navigate this period without one of their top starters.

Ultimately, New York will need consistent performances from its adjusted rotation to regain momentum. If Peterson delivers and Scott builds on his opportunity, the team can manage Senga's absence and remain competitive in the days ahead. The Mets sit tied for last place in the National League East at 9–19, underscoring the urgency of their situation.
