The Houston Astros have dealt with no shortage of injury concerns to begin the season. Hunter Brown , Jeremy Pena , Christian Javier, Tatsuya Imai and Josh Hader are among the Astros battling injuries at the moment. On Tuesday, the Astros placed another player on the injured list, as the team announced that outfielder Taylor Trammell is being placed on the 10-day IL due to a left groin strain. In corresponding moves, outfielder Daniel Johnson was selected to the MLB roster and right-handed pitcher Christian Roa was designated for assignment.
Trammell, 28, was hitting .345/.424/.448 across 10 games played before suffering the injury. The outfielder has had an up and down big league career overall, but he started the 2026 season strong before being placed on the injured list.
Houston entered the ’26 campaign with expectations of competing. While the Astros still have time to bounce back, the ball club has struggled overall amid all of the injuries on the roster. At 9-15, Houston is currently fifth in the American League West standings. Nevertheless, the team is only 3.5 games back of first place heading into Tuesday’s contest against the Cleveland Guardians .
The Astros also defeated the Guardians on the road on Monday by a final score of 9-2. They are hoping to get the job done once again in Cleveland on Tuesday night. Peter Lambert (0-1, 7.20 ERA) will start for Houston while Tanner Bibee (0-2, 4.81 ERA) will get the start for Cleveland.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 PM EST at Progressive Field in Cleveland as the Astros look to earn a second consecutive victory.
