On Wednesday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays will hit the field for another home game against the New York Mets. The Blue Jays lost on Tuesday by a score of 3-0 against New York , with superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. out of the lineup due to lower back tightness in what was a late scratch.
However, ahead of Wednesday's game , the Blue Jays got some positive news on their star.
" Vladimir Guerrero Jr. back in Blue Jays lineup, batting second with George Springer out on pat leave. Braydon Fisher opens vs Freddy Peralta and the Mets in Canada Day clash," reported Shi Davidi of Sportsnet on X, formerly Twitter
Many fans were understandably concerned when Guerrero Jr. was listed as out somewhat abruptly before Tuesday's game, but thankfully, the injury doesn't seem to be anything too severe, as he is returning less than 24 hours later.
Injuries have been a theme for the Blue Jays throughout this season, as the team has dealt with numerous ailments on various parts of the roster, including to pitcher Max Scherzer , who hasn't played since June 10 as he deals with his own back issue, as well as discomfort to his side. The Blue Jays currently sit at 40-45 on the season, a big disappointment considering how close they came to winning a World Series championship last season. However, there is still time for the team to turn things around as the season continues.
The Blue Jays are set to take on the Mets on Wednesday at 3:07 pm ET from Toronto.
