The Milwaukee Brewers have been having a strong 2026 season, currently sitting in first place in the NL Central division with a record of 54-33. Unfortunately, the good vibes didn't continue on the 4th of July, as starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff exited the game with an apparent shoulder injury, and the Brewers wound up losing at home to the Arizona Diamondbacks .
Now, the team has gotten a rough update on Woodruff's status moving forward.
"Brewers righty Brandon Woodruff has been placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. LHP Drew Rom recalled from Triple-A Nashville," reported Adam McCalvy of MLB.com on X, formerly Twitter.
Woodruff has since spoken on his state of mind amid the injury.
"I know what's before me. I know what I'm dealing with, so if I can avoid some things, it just becomes, 'Get back on the field and pitch and help them win,'" he said, per McCalvy.
It's certainly a tough break for Woodruff, who is one of many Brewers pitchers having a strong 2026 season thus far. Also among them is Jacob Misiorowski , who was recently named an MLB All-Star for his efforts this season, and is garnering some legit buzz for the Cy Young award in the NL for the 2026 season.
Without Woodruff in the lineup for the next couple of weeks, the Brewers will need to lean heavily on their depth and bullpen in order to carry them through the All-Star break and beyond.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are looking to build off last year's trip to the NLCS, where they were sent packing in four games by the eventual World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers . Peaking at the right time heading into the playoffs would help a lot in those efforts.
