Broncos Wire 's 91-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at second-year defensive lineman Kristian Williams, No. 75.
Before the Broncos :Williams (6-2, 295 pounds) played six years of collegiate football, first with the University of Oregon Ducks (2019-21), then with the Missouri Tigers (2022-24). While at Oregon, Williams played in 23 games (five starts), recording 25 total tackles (five solo, 20 assisted), with one pass deflection and one tackle for loss.
It was after he transferred from the Pacific Northwest to the Heartland that Williams really came into his own. In 2022, Williams played in all 13 games (11 starts), recording 25 tackles (18 solo, seven assisted, four tackles for loss), one sack, one pass deflection and one forced fumble.
In 2023, Williams again made 25 total tackles (10 solo, 15 assisted, and a career-best five tackles for loss), two pass deflections, one fumble recovery and two forced fumbles. In 2023, Williams was also named to the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll. In 2024, Williams was named a team captain, rewarding his team's faith in him by having one of his best statistical seasons. Williams finished the year with 30 total tackles (13 solo, 17 assisted, two tackles for loss), one sack, one pass deflection and one forced fumble.
Broncos tenure:Williams was signed as an undrafted free agent after the 2025 NFL draft, but never really got to show his skills. After the second preseason game, Williams was sidelined early in the year with injury. He was subsequently waived with an injury designation , later reverted to injured reserve. Williams was later released with an injury settlement, but he returned to the team in January on a reserve/future deal.
Chances to make the 53-man roster:In a battle for a backup spot. The Broncos find themselves in a spot where they have an increasingly crowded defensive line room; the recent selection of Tyler Onyedim likely pushes Williams down the roster, and onto a bubble spot for a practice squad role.
