One of the bigger additions the Cleveland Browns made during NFL free agency was the signing of Pro Bowl interior offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins .
However, ever since the addition, there has been controversy about where exactly he will play. Jenkins has played all five spots for the Green Bay Packers , but spent most of his time at guard and center. With the addition of Zion Johnson holding down one guard spot, the Browns then also re-signed Teven Jenkins . This led many to believe that Elgton Jenkins would play center for the Browns.
Head coach Todd Monken, however, does not quite see it that way. Asked about Jenkins at the NFL Owners' Meeting, Monken stated that he appreciates Jenkins' versatility, but sees him as a guard. Monken stated that he would "love" for Jenkins to play guard, but needs to see how the rest of the offseason plays out.
What this means for the Browns
As it stands today, this would mean that the Browns are comfortable with Luke Wypler , who is recovering from a Week 18 ankle injury and should be back by the start of training camp, at center in a contract year. This could also mean that a center is high on their priority list in the NFL Draft if they are not comfortable with Wypler. However, the biggest implication this carries is that the Browns see Teven Jenkins more as insurance and security rather than a starting piece up front.
If this holds, the Browns would look to roll out an offensive line of Johnson at left guard, Wypler at center, Elgton Jenkins at right guard, and Tytus Howard at right tackle. Left tackle is presumed to be a position addressed early in the 2026 NFL Draft with the likes of Georgia's Monroe Freeling , Utah's Spencer Fano, or others. Center could also be a position worth looking into in three weeks.
