The Milwaukee Bucks will be going into a new direction next season as they look to find a new head coach. It looks like they've already started the search, and they have a serious interest in Taylor Jenkins , according to The Athletic.
"Team owners Wes Edens and Jimmy Haslam and general manager Jon Horst made their way to Memphis, where the former Grizzlies head coach still resides with his family, early last week to discuss their head coach opening and a vision for the future with Jenkins in Milwaukee, those sources said," The Athletic wrote.
Jenkins was last the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, and was there from 2019 to 2015 after being fired late in the season. Through that stretch, he had a 250-214 record, and the Grizzlies made the playoffs four out of the six seasons he was there.
There's no question that Jenkins has what it takes to be the next head coach of the Bucks, but it's also uncertain what he would be walking into. There are still questions regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo's future with the team, and there is a chance that they will finally trade him in the offseason. Especially with how the season ended with him wanting to play but the Bucks not allowing him, this could be the end of the road for both sides.
From there, the Bucks would have to rebuild with whatever they get in return from an Antetokounmpo trade, and they'll have to go from there. Jenkins could be the type of coach that gets the most out of his players, regardless of who is on the team, which may be something that the organization is looking for in their next coach.
